Welcome!
If you are currently experiencing pain or are seeking information on behalf of a family member or friend, you have found an organization that is dedicated to ensuring the best possible management of pain. Ohio Pain Initiative (OPI) was founded in 1991 and ever since, has promoted education of both professionals and the public in order to improve the treatment of pain and to relieve suffering.
Persons with pain often do not receive optimal pain control. One way to improve pain management is for people with pain and their family members to be advocates for their treatment needs. Advocacy requires that those seeking pain care learn more about pain and its treatment as well as learn how to best work with the healthcare professionals managing the pain. The "Patient and Family" section of this website aims to provide you with the information and tools you need to be your own (or your family member's) advocate.
Again, welcome to our website. We hope that you will gain a greater understanding of the rights and responsibilities of those dealing with pain and discover meaningful ways to talk with your physician about pain. Education and information are vital assets to obtain relief!
